The 5th Edition of Lisboa Lacrosse Cup took place in Lisbon, Portugal on the 26 and 27th June 2021. The international tournament is one of the best lacrosse tournaments in Europe, and it was, so far, the biggest Lacrosse event happening in Europe during 2021.
In total, the men's and women's competition gathered more than 200 players and 12 teams from all over the world that came on a lacrosse tour to Portugal, including countries such as United States, Canada, Spain, Italy, Germany, Belgium and the United Kingdom.
The event was played in the University Stadium of Lisbon, right in the hear of the city, just 5 minutes from the airport and 15 from downtown, featuring a magnificent stadium with natural grass, and an adjacent turf field. On saturday the women's competition was played in natural grass, and the men's competition in the adjacent turf field, but on sunday both competitions were played in the same stadium, creating an even nicer atmosphere around the games all day long.
The round-robin and playoff games were played in 2x20' halves, and the championship games were played in full lenght as per World Lacrosse Rules. The tournament had one of the most experienced refereeing/umpiring team ever, composed by individuals from the USA, Belgium, Germany and Spain.
Once you find yourself in Lisboa Lacrosse Cup, you will discover that you will be taking part in one of the most competitive but also fun tournaments, were winning is important, but more than that, everyone shares the love for lacrosse, and a "grow the game" attitude.
The venue is equiped with medical staff physiterapy assistance and a food-court with food-trucks and bar. Networking is strongly encouraged in Lisboa Lacrosse Cup, and teams can learn a lot with eachother while playing in the tournament.
After 2 days of competition, and more than 30 hours of play, the Men's Competition was won by the Italian Heritage team, featuring both North-American based players and native italian players, which is one of the key strategies to develop the game in Italy. The women's competition was won by Student Athlete World from the USA, in one of the most spectacular games of the tournament agains Madrid Lacrosse from Spain.
The 6th edition of Lisboa Lacrosse Cup is already on the move, and scheduled for the 25 and 26 of June 2022, expecting 24 teams from all over the World!
