The 2026 Portugal Basketball Festival further strengthened its reputation as one of Europe’s leading international youth basketball events. Held in Lisbon on June 27 and 28, the sixth edition brought together more than 70 men’s and women’s teams and hundreds of athletes aged 14 to 22, creating a vibrant atmosphere of competition, cultural exchange, and sportsmanship.
The tournament welcomed participants from 11 countries: Portugal, the United States, Canada, Spain, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Bermuda, Belgium, France, Finland, and Luxembourg, highlighting the festival’s growing international reach and appeal. Beyond the basketball courts, the event provided young athletes with valuable opportunities to connect with peers from different cultures and backgrounds, promoting inclusion, respect, and global citizenship through sport.
Competition was intense across all divisions. In the men’s tournament, MVP International secured championship titles in both the U15 and U17 categories, while CM Sports claimed the U19 title. The women’s divisions saw three different champions, with Quinta dos Lombos winning the U15 championship, SAWUSA taking the U17 crown, and CM Sports capturing the U19 title.
By combining high-level basketball with meaningful cultural experiences, the Portugal Basketball Festival continues to enhance Lisbon’s position as a premier destination for international sports tourism and youth development through sport.
