For over a week Lisbon hosted the 13th edition of the World Firefighters Games. More than 2.500 participants from 40 countries have gathered in Portugal to compete in more than 41 sports.
The event started on the 30th of April 2022 with a openning ceremony at Estádio Universitário de Lisboa couting with high ranking officers from portuguese firefighting scene and the Mayor of Lisbon, Engº Carlos Moedas.
The dimension of the event took competitions outside Lisbon city center, including cities such as Almada, Vila Franca de Xira, Oeiras, Figueira da Foz and Torres Vedras.
Participants were transported to/from competition venues on shuttle transfers arranged by the organization.

The competitions included in the event were not all for mainstream sports, as the skill of firefighters was tested in competitions such as the firetruck challenge, toughest firefighter alive, high angle, and stair run.
