European Transplant Sports Championships 2024

The European Transplant Sports Championships were first staged in Athens in 2000 and held every 2 years in a total of 10 different countries.

The games comprise a week of multi-sport competition amongst solid organ transplant recipients, people on dialysis, and hematopoietic cell transplants from over 25 European countries.

For the first time in history, this year marked the union of two federations, bringing together the competitions of the European Heart and Lung Transplant Federation and the European Transplant and Dialysis Sports Federation.

This partnership provided an excellent opportunity to promote the enormous benefits of organ donation and the incredible impact of organ transplants.

In 2024, the event was organized for the first time in Portugal by GDTP - Grupo Desportivo de Transplantados de Portugal (Sports Group of Transplant Recipients of Portugal) in collaboration with O-Sports.

This edition took place in Lisbon, from July 21 to July 28, 2024.

This event has over 20 years of history, and this year it welcomed more than 700 participants from over 25 countries, competing in the following sports:

- 5km Mini Marathon

- Badminton

- Swimming

- Cycling

- Darts

- Golf

- Padel

- Petanque

- Ten-pin Bowling

- Table Tennis

- Tennis

- Athletics

- 3x3 Basketball

- Volleyball
