O-Sports recently welcomed an American basketball team for an unforgettable 9-day "Basketball Tour to Portugal," from August 10th to August 18th. During their stay, the team combined competitive matches with an immersive cultural experience, exploring the best that Lisbon and surrounding areas have to offer.
Beyond the court, the team embarked on guided tours of Lisbon’s historic landmarks, from the bustling Baixa-Chiado to the stunning Lisbon Cathedral and Praça do Comércio. They also visited the iconic Castelo de São Jorge, followed by a scenic day trip to Sintra, where they explored the famous Palácio da Pena.
One of the highlights was a catamaran tour along the Sesimbra coastline, where the team had the chance to discover some of Portugal’s most beautiful hidden beaches, swim in crystal-clear waters, and enjoy stand-up paddleboarding in picturesque settings.
The cultural immersion didn’t stop there. The players experienced the soul of Portuguese culture with a night of Fado music, and participated in a cooking class, where they learned how to prepare traditional Portuguese dishes.
In addition to these enriching experiences, the team also took part in a meaningful community project. Acting as ambassadors, they led a basketball training session for young refugees, followed by a friendly scrimmage, mixing both the team and the refugee participants. This unique opportunity allowed the team to put into practice not only their basketball skills but also fostered connection, inclusion, and teamwork.
This combination of competitive sport, cultural exploration, and community engagement provided the team with a memorable and impactful tour, showcasing the unique possibilities O-Sports offers through our comprehensive sports tours.
