The United Nations Inter-Agency Games of 2024 took place last week from October 23 to 27 in Lloret de Mar, Catalonia, Spain.

The United Nations is an international organization founded in the aftermath of World War II, with the primary goal of promoting peace, security, cooperation, and development among its member states. It serves as a forum for nations to collectively address global issues and find diplomatic solutions.

The United Nations Inter-Agency Games is an annual corporate sporting event where staff from various agencies (UNICEF, UNIDO, UNESCO, WHO, IAEA, WFP, among others) come together to meet and build relationships, thereby enhancing cooperation and fostering team spirit.

The 2024 edition brought together around 1,500 participants from 140 different countries in Lloret de Mar, in the beautiful region of Catalonia, Spain, for competitions in a total of 16 sports: athletics, badminton, basketball, beach volleyball, chess, cricket, cross-country, darts, football, golf, padel, pétanque, billiards, swimming, table tennis, and volleyball. The opening ceremony was held on the 23rd, competitions ran from October 22 to 26, the closing ceremony and gala were held on the evening of the 26th, and regular departures began on the 27th.
